A taste from the cellar on November 29th
On November 29th at 6pm we will be tasting a hand-picked selection from our cellar. We will have delicious lite bites to complement the wines.
1-Clos Floridène 2018 Graves Blanc Bordeaux France
Wine Advocate 91 Rating
The Clos Floridene 2018 Blanc gives tropical scents of green guava, mango and pineapple with touches of honeysuckle and fresh ginger. Medium-bodied, the palate delivers fantastic freshness and mineral-tinged citrus layers, finishing long and clean.
2-Paul Hobbs 2018 Chardonnay Ross Station Estate Russian River Valley California
Wine Advocate 95 Rating
The 2018 Chardonnay Ross Station Estate opens with toast and flint, segueing to golden apple, white flowers and salted almonds. The medium-bodied, satiny palate is singing, bursting with juicy, savory flavors and finishing very long. Only 317 cases produced.
3-Mauritson Rockpile Winery 2016 'Rockpile Ridge Vineyard' Zinfandel Sonoma County
Wine Enthusiast 93 Rating
With an addition of 5% Petite Sirah, this wine is brooding in a berry fruit tone that mingles with brown sugar, baking spice and coffee. Lifted acidity does a good job reining in the fundamental power and concentration at its core.
4-Domaine Raymond Usseglio & Fils 2019 Chateauneuf Du Pape Les Apotres Southern Rhone Valley France
Jeb Dunnuck 97 Rating
A relatively new cuvée that encompasses all the permitted varieties of the appellation and is brought up in amphora, the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Les Apotres offers a beautiful perfume of black raspberry and blackberry fruits interwoven with loads of spring flowers, white truffle, spice, and sappy garrigue aromas and flavors. This beauty is seamless, medium to full-bodied, and my money is on it being the finest vintage for this cuvée to date.
5-Heitz 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley California
James Suckling 94 Rating
A pure, balanced and fresh Napa cabernet that is not just showing heady concentration and dark fruit. Here you get some violets, nimble flowers, redcurrants, graphite and fine spices. Some oranges, too. Fragrant and nuanced. Medium to full body with tight yet refined tannins. Rather linear, tense and elegant, but lacking neither power nor definition. Better to give it a few years to deliver more complexity.
6-Chateau Du Parc 2016 Saint Emilion Grand Cru Bordeaux France
James Suckling 94 Rating
Attractive graphite and flinty notes with deeply ripe, red and purple fruit on offer, as well as cedary oak influence. The palate has a succulent, juicy and focused core with impressive length and balance. Great wine. Try from 2022.
