Fresh aromas of jasmine, ginger and crisp apples are accompanied by the scent of soft, flaky croissants. The palate is well structured and vibrant, highlighting a delightful interplay of floral, spice and orchard fruit notes, with a solid finish that highlights the wine’s freshness and balance.
1-Course: Beef Carpaccio
served with Camigliano 2020 Brunello di Montalcino Tuscany Italy
Wine Spectator 95 Rating
There’s bright cherry and strawberry fruit in this elegant red, along with rose, mineral and wild herb notes, plus a hint of black pepper. Harmonious and vibrant, this is fluid while cruising to the long, detailed aftertaste. Best from 2027 through 2043.
2-Course: Mushroom Raviolo with Creamy Truffle Sauce
served with Casanova di Neri 2020 Brunello di Montalcino Tuscany Italy
Wine Spectator 94 Rating
Exhibiting cherry, raspberry, eucalyptus, iron and spice aromas and flavors, this supple red is complex and compelling. Supported by a swath of dusty tannins, yet everything feels in the right place. Excellent length. Best from 2027 through 2042.
3-Course: Tuscan Ribollita soup with crostini
served with iL Poggione 2020 Brunello di Montalcino Tuscany Italy
Wine Advocate 94 Rating
Showing very nice results, with greater accessibility in this vintage, the Il Poggione 2020 Brunello di Montalcino has dark fruit aromas with blackcurrant followed by something spicy or herbal. I am reminded of licorice root, exotic spice, pressed rose and fragrant tea leaf. It finishes smoothly with silky tannins and an open-knit approach. This vintage is almost ready to drink, and you get elegant complexity at the same time. It sees three years in oak botti. Fruit is sourced across vineyards with 25-year-old-plus vines.
4-Course: Pappardelle alla Ragu with Pork, Veal and Beef
served with Sassetti Livio-Pertimali 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Tuscany Italy
Vinous 95 Rating
The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is a spice box of a wine, opening with a burst of camphor and dried flowers, giving way to crushed blackberries, sage and cloves. This is surprisingly energetic and racy in style. Vibrant acidity propels depths of dark red fruits and inner floral as salty minerals saturate. The 2019 finishes structured and long yet still lively, leaving violet inner florals and hints of currant to taper off slowly. The combination of power, depth and energy makes this impossible to ignore.
5-Course: NY Strip with Cafe de Paris Sauce, Duck Fat Roasted Potatoes
served with Castiglion del Bosco 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Tuscany Italy
James Suckling 96 Rating
This is really fine on the palate with wonderfully integrated tannins that give tension and focus. It’s medium-bodied with lovely berry, cherry, cedar and spice. Peaches and flower stems, too. Creamy texture. Extremely long and vivid. Structured, but showing beautiful drinkability with wonderful balance and form. One to drink or hold.
