Just for fun.
On January 10th at 6pm we will be tasting a hand-picked selection from our cellar. We will be serving charcuterie to complement the wines.
1-Ridge Estate 2023 Chardonnay Monte Bello Estate Vineyard Santa Cruz Mountains California
Jeb Dunnuck 100 Rating
The 2023 Chardonnay Estate is a unicorn wine, with the acids naturally occurring with ease in this cool, long, extended growing season that the wine world is rightfully excited about, producing wines of tremendous elegance and balance, sourced entirely from Monte Bello Estate. The minerality is off the charts, exuberantly defining the wine after a barrel fermentation of nine months on the lees in 85% American and 15% French oak, 15% of it new. Gorgeously lengthy and bright, winemaker John Olney recommends that for primary fruit.
2-Kosta Browne 2016 Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands California
Jeb Dunnuck 93 Rating
From a mix of Garys’, Rosella’s, and Soberanes vineyard (there’s also a tiny amount of Pisoni), the 2016 Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands leads with its beautiful fruit and has lots of blueberries, cherries, spices, and candied violet-like aromas and flavors.
3-Sierra Cantabria 2015 Rioja Reserva Rioja Spain
Wine Enthusiast 94 Rating Cellar Selection
This dark violet colored wine has a bouquet of black currant, dark chocolate and juniper berry. A framework of opulent tannins plays host to flavors of blackberry, dark plums, bittersweet chocolate, rose petal and eucalyptus that evaporate into an enduring chocolate-scented finish. Drink through 2035.
4-San Polo 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Tuscany Italy
Wine Enthusiast 95 Rating
Wild berry, camphor, tobacco and cocoa aromas fill the glass. Smooth, juicy and delicious, the full-bodied palate delivers ripe black cherry, raspberry compote and licorice while firm fine-grained tannins offer support. Fresh acidity keeps it balanced. Drink 2022–2027.
5-Denis Dubourdieu 2019 Clos Floridene Graves Rouge Bordeaux France
Vinous 92 Rating
The 2019 Clos Floridène is such a gorgeous wine. Silky and polished to the core, the 2019 is exceptionally beautiful. Crushed flowers, red berry fruit, cinnamon, licorice and blood orange all grace this mid-weight, nuanced Graves. All the elements are so well balanced. Superb.
6-Dominus Napanook 2017 Red Blend Napa Valley California
Jeb Dunnuck 94 Rating
The 2017 Napanook checks in 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot. It offers classy notes of cassis, black currants, toasted spices, and hints of flowers. With lots of chocolately richness, medium to full body, and beautifully ripe tannins, it's layered and has impressive depth of fruit, followed by a great finish. It's going to evolve for 15-20 years. It's an incredible value in classic, impeccably made Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
