A taste from the cellar on TBD
On TBD at 6pm we will be tasting a hand-picked selection from our cellar. We will have delicious lite bites to complement the wines.
1-Hartford Court 2018 Chardonnay Stone Côte Vineyard Sonoma Coast California
Jeb Dunnuck 98 Rating
The 2018 Chardonnay Stone Cote Vineyard offers up an exotic, full-bodied, concentrated style as well as complex lemon and orchard fruits, notes of chamomile, toasted almonds, and baking spice notes, flawless balance, integrated acidity, and a chalky, mineral-laced finish. This magical, thrilling Chardonnay will cruise for 5-7 years (probably longer) in cold cellars, and it ranks with the top handful of wines in the vintage.
2-Kosta Browne 2016 Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands California
Jeb Dunnuck 93 Rating
From a mix of Garys’, Rosella’s, and Soberanes vineyard (there’s also a tiny amount of Pisoni), the 2016 Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands leads with its beautiful fruit and has lots of blueberries, cherries, spices, and candied violet-like aromas and flavors.
3-Sierra Cantabria 2015 Rioja Reserva Rioja Spain
Wine Enthusiast 94 Rating Cellar Selection
This dark violet colored wine has a bouquet of black currant, dark chocolate and juniper berry. A framework of opulent tannins plays host to flavors of blackberry, dark plums, bittersweet chocolate, rose petal and eucalyptus that evaporate into an enduring chocolate-scented finish. Drink through 2035.
4-il Poggione 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Tuscany Italy
Wine Advocate 97 Rating
The Il Poggione 2015 Brunello di Montalcino shows a darker and more concentrated appearance than many of its peers. The wine is beautifully abundant and fragrant in the most exuberant and expressive manner. You will recognize aromas of moist soil, tobacco and smoke. Candied cherry hovers over the entire bouquet. Fruit is sourced from older vines (all over 25 years old). Il Poggione occupies a special spot within the Montalcino appellation, and the area always produces slightly more concentrated and powerful wines. I find that to be particularly true in this gorgeous 2015 vintage. I am also very attracted to that almost dusty note of crushed mineral that rides long on the full-bodied finish.
5-Chateau Bellefont Belcier 2016 St-Emilion Grand Cru Bordeaux France
Jeb Dunnuck 95 Rating
The 2016 Château Bellefont-Belcier was truly brilliant on all three occasions I was able to taste it, rating 95 twice and 97 once. Coming from a 13.5-hectare vineyard on the magical Côte Pavie (it’s right next door to Larcis-Ducasse) and a blend of 65% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 20 months in 80% new oak, it offers a black fruit-driven style as well as loads of black raspberries, black cherries, graphite, leafy herbs, and hints of incense. It's powerful, full-bodied, has building sweet tannins, and the rock star purity of fruit that's the hallmark of the vintage. It’s an awesome wine to drink over the coming 20-25 years.
6-Dominus Napanook 2017 Red Blend Napa Valley California
Jeb Dunnuck 94 Rating
The 2017 Napanook checks in 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot. It offers classy notes of cassis, black currants, toasted spices, and hints of flowers. With lots of chocolately richness, medium to full body, and beautifully ripe tannins, it's layered and has impressive depth of fruit, followed by a great finish. It's going to evolve for 15-20 years. It's an incredible value in classic, impeccably made Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
