1-Hartford Court 2016 Pinot Noir Arrendell Vineyard Russian River Valley California
Jeb Dunnuck 97 Rating

I also loved the 2016 Pinot Noir Arrendell Vineyard. Located in the Russian River and planted in 1975 to a heritage Martini Clone, this cool site struggles to ripen, giving this 2016 an exotic, complex, vibrant style along with its ample red and black fruits, candied violets, potpourri, and sandalwood. It’s one of the more vibrant, racier wines in the lineup, yet its acidity is nicely integrated, it’s flawlessly balanced, and it has a great, great finish. Give bottles a year or two and enjoy over the following decade. R15-1

2-Domaine Pierre Labet 2017 Beaune Clos du dessus des Marconnets Rouge Burgundy France
Wine Spectator 93 Rating

Leafy underbrush, sandalwood and incense aromas and flavors augment the cherry and plum fruit in this rich, robust red. A finely-meshed matrix of tannins lays the groundwork, while the finish is long and complex, echoing spice and woodsy elements. Best from 2023 through 2038. SP3-5

3-Hendry 2015 Blocks 7 and 22 Zinfandel Napa Valley California
Wine Enthusiast 94 Rating

This is a spicy, sublime and expansive wine, full bodied no doubt, yet brimming in freshness and complexity. It is red-fruit driven and dazzles in white and black pepper, accented by dashes of cinnamon and nutmeg. It has a long-lasting texture and richness. SP16-2

4-Tenuta Argentiera 2015 Bolgheri Superiore Tuscany Italy
James Suckling 99 Rating

A delightful nose of creme de cassis, hot stones and crushed violets and spices. Full body, chewy and super polished tannins and a long finish, which really takes off thanks to electric acidity. An essay in balance and depth. Best ever. Puts Argentiera with the best of the best in Tuscany. A blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc. SP46-1

5-Jonata Winery 2018 Todos Red Ballard Canyon Santa Ynez Valley California
Jeb Dunnuck 95 Rating

Always a good value, the 2018 Todos checks in as a kitchen sink blend of 45% Syrah, 21% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Petit Verdot, 9% Petite Sirah, and the rest Merlot and other miscellaneous varieties. Its inky, glass-staining purple color is followed by a beautiful bouquet of smoked black fruits, bouquet garni, peppered meat, and hints of crushed rock. It’s rich, medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced, and just a gorgeous wine. SP27-10

6-Dancing Hares 2017 Proprietary Red Napa Valley California
The 2017 Dancing Hares overflows with scents of plum preserve, crème de cassis, and spice box. The velvet structure of the wine evolves into deep flavors of warm licorice, black fruits, and olive tapenade that glide across the silky palate, then finish with volume and length. Made of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot and 6% Merlot. R41-1
