The Setting Wines Tasting on March 13th 6pm

$55.00Price

We will be tasting six wines from the Setting Wines Company.

1-The Setting 2024 Sauvignon Blanc Sonoma County
$39.99 bottle
Wine Enthusiast 94 Rating

This richer-styled Sauvignon Blanc delivers focused aromas of ripe melon, candied ginger, pithy citrus and a whisper of flint on the nose, giving way to decadent flavors of grapefruit, honeydew, white flowers and chalky minerality on the palate before a lifted, acid-driven finish with echoes of orange blossom and sunshine.

2-The Setting 2022 Chardonnay Chehalem Mountain Vineyard Willamette Valley Oregon
$54.99 bottle
Wine Enthusiast 93 Rating

This vineyard, planted in 1968 by Dick Erath, is a significant part of the early history of the Willamette Valley. This Chardonnay does that legacy justice. It opens with aromas of lemon and smoky flint. There's also a green note that crosses Granny Smith apples with wet rocks. If emeralds had an aroma, this would be it. Grilled pineapple, lemon and saline flavors conjure cravings for a slice of beach pie. The wine's texture is crisp and clean.

3-The Setting 2023 Pinot Noir Chehalem Mountain Willamette Valley Oregon
James Suckling 94 Rating
$89.99 bottle

Charming, complex and elegant, this vibrant wine is focused, fruit and spicy to taste. It is well structured in moderate tannins and fresh, balancing acidity. Firm tannins wrap around concentdrated red and black cherries, with iron, floral and stone influences. Drink now or hold.

4-The Setting 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley California
Wine Enthusiast 97 Rating
$89.99 bottle

Generous aromas of crushed raspberry, plum compote, cocoa and crushed herbs explode on the nose of this Cabernet. The palate displays rich, supple tannin balanced by juicy acidity and flavors of cherry gastrique, raspberry liqueur, graphite and herb mélange that dance and dart across the long finish. Delicious now, this will benefit from some time in the cellar.

5-The Setting 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Rockpile Ridge Dry Creek Valley Sonoma
Wine Advocate 96 Rating
$189.99 bottle

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Rockpile Ridge was matured for 22 months in 100% new French oak. It's savory and wild in character, opening with aromas of mossy bark, game meats, desert herbs, dried mushrooms, sandalwood, cigars and soy sauce, which complement a deep core of blackcurrant fruit. The full-bodied palate is powerful, with loads of gently chalky tannins and just enough fresh acidity to lift its mineral-driven fruit. It's tightly coiled at this stage and deserves 5+ years in bottle to unfold.

6-The Setting 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Napa Valley
$149.99 bottle
Wine Advocate 96 Rating

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville was matured for 22 months in 100% new French oak. Winemaker Jesse Katz notes that while many areas in 2021 expressed the relatively cool, even growing season, naturally warmer sites like those in Oakville actually showed a fair amount of warmth. "As far as growing degree days," he explains of these warmer sites, "2021 was similar to 2020. The rest of the sites were much more similar to 2018 and 2019. But the warmer sites in 2021 will show that warmer season. I haven't seen an expression like that before." The nose offers detailed aromas of black cherry and blueberry pie, licorice, musk and sandalwood with undertones of lilac and sagebrush. The full-bodied palate is bursting with ripe, concentrated fruit, although it doesn't feel overripe or weighty. Its vibrant acidity balances that opulence, and finely grained tannins add a plush feel. You could drink this now for its alluring fruit or allow it to mature in bottle over the next 10-15+ years.
