1-Turley Wine Cellars 2021 Evangelho Vineyard Contra Costa County Zinfandel California
Antonio Galloni 93-95 Rating $44.99
The 2021 Zinfandel Evangelho emerges from the front block of the vineyard, where the Zinfandel-based field blend includes Carignan, Mataro and Palomino. Dark and enveloping, the 2021 offers tremendous intensity and tons of character. Readers will find a wine of uncommon depth, complexity and pedigree.
2-Turley 2021 Zinfandel Rattlesnake Ridge Howell Mountain Napa Valley California
Wine Spectator 95 Rating $59.99
Plump and polished yet tightly focused, with generous flavors of black cherry and raspberry accented by orange peel and toasty spices. Builds structure toward medium-grained tannins. Drink now through 2034.
3-Turley Wine Cellars 2021 Zinfandel Hayne Vineyard Napa Valley California
Antonio Galloni 95 Rating $84.99
The 2021 Zinfandel Hayne Vineyard emerges from one of the great, historic sites in St. Helena. A rush of red/purplish fruit, pomegranate and rose petals races across the palate. The Hayne offers unreal breadth, volume and textural intensity. It’s shaping to be a magical wine. Caressing tannins wrap it all together in grand style.
4-Turley Wine Cellars 2022 Zinfandel Dusi Vineyard Paso Robles California
Wine Spectator 95 Rating $49.99
A seductive Zin that’s rich and polished yet handsomely structured, with detailed flavors of raspberry, cranberry, roasted sage and loamy white pepper that end with big but refined tannins. Drink now through 2035.
5-Turley Wine Cellars Zinfandel Cedarman Howell Mountain Napa Valley California
Wine Advocate 94 Rating $44.99
Blended with 22% Petite Sirah, the 2022 Zinfandel Cedarman hails from Rattlesnake Ridge and Dragon Vineyards high atop Howell Mountain. Medium to deep ruby in the glass, the nose combines extremely ripe black fruits and loamy earth with botanical, herbal notes that meld with floral top notes after time in the glass. The palate follows the fruit-laden foreshadowing of the nose with massive saturation and intensity and transiting to a chewy, sinewy finish lined with juicy acidity nestled into a long, detailed finish. Lovers of a sumptuous style will find much to love upon release, although a few years in the cellar could provide an additional layer of nuance.
6-Turley Wine Cellars Zinfandel Steacy Ranch Lodi California
Wine Advocate 95 Rating $39.99
From vines planted in 1907, the 2022 Zinfandel Steacy Ranch is medium ruby in color and takes time to reveal a pure, complex nose of crushed berries, candied stone fruit, autumn leaves, dusty earth and subtle meaty, savory tones. The palate is dense and concentrated yet bound with a youthfully firm, dusty frame and fireworks of mouthwatering acidity on the long, gently coiled finish. While fans of a forward, fleshy style will enjoy this on the young side, this should improve beautifully in the cellar over the coming decade.
